The Cote d’Azur is is well known for a moderate and dry winter climate although it has also been known to snow in the winter. The year round destinations are Nice, Cannes and Monaco, which have a full range of restaurants and shops open as usual. Some of the smaller resorts are less busy and do not offer the same attractions as in summer.

Venice

You go to Venice for its filmic beauty, its buildings and bellinis at Harry's Bar but beaches? The lido di Venezia is a seven-mile sand bar that encloses the lagoon, with public stretches at the north and south of the island , and it's 12 minutes by water bus from StMark's Square.

The beach season lasts from May to October, but the prime rental time is September, when the International Film Festival, held on the lido, comes to town. During this fevered fortnight,winter is the quieter months in Venice
